Do what makes you happy I guess, but why is that something that makes you happy? I just do not understand the old white folk obsession with this place. Relevant because road trip.

I always go there once when down in the States. It’s good, but not great. It’s tradition.

They’re all exactly the same though, right?

My little kids like it when we travel South, but I can’t imagine going that many times.

My wife’s parents love it. We go there just about every time they take us out to eat. It’s certainly not bad, per se.

Yes, they are all exactly the same. Different floor plans, but the decor, menu, and gift shop all have the same stuff.

Whatever makes you happy, I guess. I thought about doing the same thing with Margaritavilles at one point, but thought better of it. I mean, the thing with chain restaurants is that every one is pretty similar to the others, and some of them are located in cities that aren’t exactly prime destinations.

I only get to a WH every few years, but today I would choose covered, smothered, diced, chunked, and peppered

Besides greasy, mediocre food and corporate consumption masquerading as folksy nostalgia, no, not really. It’s basically a place where old white people can go to pretend like it’s the 1950's again.

Old white people eating mediocre comfort food.

If any of that turns you on, then yeah, you’re missing something.

Otherwise nah.

They’re not always carbon copies. That’s kind of the difference between boring-ass sameness and maybe a pleasant surprise.

Even McDonalds has variance from place to place.

My in-laws love the place, but every time we’ve been there it’s been just ok. If you live in a place where the Black-Eyed Pea exists, there’s no reason to ever go to a Cracker Barrel.

Dude I am from Hawaii and every time I went mainland and took some road trip I always went to Cracker and got the Uncle Herschels (?) favorite which was catfish and stuff, plus that corn bread etc.. crazy. All kinds of shit hanging on the walls etc.. I love that place.

The only good thing about Cracker Barrel is the golf tee game. It helps you forget how long you are waiting for your lousy “country” food.

It’s not worth it. The food is terrible and I have no clue why they exist. They are to southern food what those other theme restaurants are to their respective food.

The only thing I have to compare it to is that vaguely Latin place with the Mayan theme in Downtown Disney in Anaheim. Something to make your average American with absolutely no culture of their own feel like they have somehow experienced something foreign and authentic that has actually been watered-down specifically for them to feel that way.

Same. Southern fried steak and sausage gravy, hash brown casserole and Mac n’ cheese with a cornbread and a biscuit. I then explode before I cross back across at Sarnia.
